Louise Mattinson, Director
Administrator/Director, Hillcroft Nursing Homes.
I joined the care sector in 1991 as the Administrator of Hillcroft Nursing Home in Carnforth, North Lancashire. I have retained this position for 25 years, assisting our group to grow to a total of six homes within the Lancaster and Morecambe area. We now care for up to 250 elderly residents with varying nursing needs including elderly frail, dementia, end of life and behavioural support.
Coming from an accounting background, I remain focused on financial viability and sustainability; however my overriding passion is for quality and improvement. I have been instrumental in developing and maintaining our ISO accredited Quality Assurance system and our Residents’ Charter. As part of the Hillcroft management team, over the years I have encountered and helped to mitigate many internal challenges including funding deficiencies, training requirements, safeguarding issues, suspensions, and enforcement actions and I am enthusiastic to share knowledge and experiences.
In 2014 I was appointed to the board of Hillcroft, and with my fellow Directors have implemented a programme of culture change within our organisation to enhance our care homes as places to live and work.
As a long standing member of the association, I share the values of LCA and believe together we can help to raise the profile of care homes as a vital part of the wider care economy.
