Bethany House Care Home in Preston

BETHANY HOUSE CARE HOME

Bethany House is a purpose built residential care home. The trustees and management have provided a secure and comfortable home particularly suited to the needs and aspirations of Elderly Committed Christians. Residents are accepted for long-stay, short-stay and respite care. The Home was built and is maintained by Preston Bethany Trust, a charity registered with the Charity Commission.

Accommodation

The home provides accommodation for 26 residents. All the facilities are on one floor. Each room is fitted with a single bed, easy chair, washbasin and TV point and is centrally heated. 13 rooms have en-suite facilities. Two longes and a dining room provide space to meet together for Christian Worship, for the showing of videos, and a quiet room for welcoming visitors. There are two bathrooms, one shower room and ample toilet facilities; all with handrails and most with raised seats. Assisted bathing is available if required.

Staff and Care

A high standard of quality care is provided by dedicated staff, many having obtained a National Vocational Qualification. Every endeavour is made to ensure an enjoyable lifestyle, which is active and as independent as possible for all our Residents in a warm, caring, friendly atmosphere.

The home is registered with Lancashire County Council, the Commission for Social Care Inspection, and has achieved a 5 Star Rating in a Quality Assurance Initiative.

Derby Lodge

Derby Lodge officially opened in 1989.  It is administered under the private sector and registered with the Care Quality Commission.

Derby Lodge is part of the Lancashire County Council Preferred Providers scheme for physical disability

Derby Lodge has been awarded 5 stars under the RDB Star Rating Scheme.  We have also been awarded two wheelchair awards for our accommodation for wheelchair users.  This is the highest award that can be offered.

We can accommodate 23 physically disabled adults either with or without a learning disability.  Individual flats are also available for those clients who wish to enjoy self contained accommodation.

We are ideally situated in a popular residential suburb north of Preston close to a variety of amenities including Banks, Post Office, Chemist, Health Centre, Churches, Leisure Centre and Public Houses.  We are also on a direct bus route either to the town centre or to supermarkets and the hospital.

Set in well maintained and spacious grounds.  The accommodation is constantly being upgraded to a high standard.

L'ARCHE COMMUNITY PRESTON

L'Arche Preston is the youngest of the LArche UK communities, founded in 1998 and presently home to 11 members, five of whom have learning disabilities. Other community members include two families living nearby, the local management committee and other active supporters.

L'Arche Community Preston is a lovely old Victorian house overlooking the park, which is just a short distance away from the town centre. And the members with learning disabilities are nearly all young people, most of whom went to school together in Preston, and who now work or attend placements in the locality. Their families are an important part of the community frequent visitors who enrich the life of L'Arche Preston, and who have developed bonds of friendship with the other families and members. All the different members combine to make L'Arche Preston a vibrant and dynamic place, befitting the age and interests of the young adults at its core.

Our sense of Community is central to the life of the community is its faith, which is rooted in the Christian tradition and is welcoming and respectful to those of all faiths or none. This faith identity helps L'Arche Preston have a clear sense of the meaning and purpose of community life.
